Singleton Cricket Club
Downland Village Twenty/20 Rules 2009

The laws of cricket shall be applied with the addition of the following local rules:

All players shall be fully paid up members of their club and be a regular Sunday side player of that club.

Bowling:

A minimum of 5 bowlers must be used per side. There is a maximum of 4 overs per bowler.

In the event of a shortened match 5 bowlers must be used with each bowler’s allocation reduced accordingly.

The bowler’s run up is restricted to 12 yards as marked on the outfield. Any bowler bowling beyond that line will have deemed to have bowled a ‘no ball’ and scored accordingly.

Wides:

The umpires will strictly enforce wide balls. Any ball bowled down the leg side (behind the pads ) that is not hit by the bat will be called a wide.

Batting Order:

None of the first 5 bowlers used will be allowed to bat in the top 6 of the innings.

Fielding Restrictions:

The fielding circle will be measured from the centre stump at each end out 25yards to make a semi circle which will then be joined up to make a full circle. For the full 20 overs their must be a minimum of 6 fielders (including the bowler & wicketkeeper) within the fielding circle.

Match reduced due to bad weather:

The two captains and umpires can agree to play a shorter match if conditions require.

The number of overs shall be devisable by 4.

The side batting second must complete a minimum of 12 overs in order for a result to be obtained. Thereafter the winner shall be the team with the highest score (or fewest lost wickets where the scores are level) at the time of the last completed over. The over being played shall be completed if the umpires agree that it can so be done.

Scores Level:

Where the scores finish level, the side losing the fewest wickets shall be deemed the winner. Should the wickets lost be the same the score at the mid point will be used to determine the winner. If the scores are still level at the mid point then the sides with the fewest wickets lost at the mid point will be deemed the winner.

If all is tied at this point then a single over play off will be used to decide the winner.

Sightscreen:

4 runs only shall be added to the score if the ball strikes either sightscreen at any point with or without bouncing

Interpretation of the rules

Any dispute regarding the interpretation of these rules will be referred to the Downland Cup Sub Committee who will comprise of the two umpires, Peter Symonds & Martin Davies (except where the individuals concerned are playing the match).

Please note all matches to start no later than 18.15 hrs regardless of player’s availability.

All teams MUST supply one ball for use in the competition.
